Comme des Garçons, or "like boys" in French, is a the very well known label of Rei Kawakubo, a peer of Yohji Yamamoto whom I wrote about a few days ago. Rei Kawakubo's designs under CdG can be described as deconstructivist and anti-fashion, as you might be able to notice from a few of the garments I've featured here - she leaves the hems unfinished, the edges raw, the insides out and the outsides in, and thats only the start. Some of the garments remind me of a Japanese horror movie I saw once called "Marebito"- I'm not sure why but theres a mood in her designs that is filled with a desire to affect.
The photos shown are from the Comme des Garçons Fall 2008 Collection.
