Hello to all my readers!!
I just wanted to apologize for my absence from the internets, as I am currently away from home (again!) in the beautiful country of Colombia. We arrived last Friday, and we will be gone for a few more weeks, visiting family and having an awesome time in South America.
As far as design goes, if any of you are fortunate enough to visit Colombia, you can expect to find some really amazing designs all around the country. Just because it is the developing world does not exclude the people from art, beauty and design. One of my favorite places in Bogotá is a restaurant/club/bar/awesome place called Andres Carne de Res, where all of the eccentric, crazy, amazing and weird design possibilities come together to create the most exciting place in the city. In one square foot of wall space, you can expect to find a human leg, an angel, skis, neon lights, sexy dolls, money, a traffic light, and anything else you can possibly imagine. And as miscellaneous as the design of this place looks, I recently discovered that it is designed all by one group of designers and each "random" item is 100% intentional. Every time we go, it is a new adventure - not just because of the amazing food, music, and energy of the place, but because of the exciting hunt for the weirdest and most unusual artifact glued somewhere on the walls, floor, cielings, windows or toilets of the establishment. If you are so fortunate, Andres Carne de Res is a must-see in Colombia. Highly recommended.
