I went to a prohibition/1930's themed party on Friday, and I went to great lengths to ensure that my outfit was authentic, and I'm quite pleased with the final result. I tried the hair twice during the week before the party, both times were major fails, but it paid off because I think the third time was the charm. And I found a spectacular vintage dress at a local vintage shop that worked perfectly with an H&M faux fur stole that I bought in Paris. The dress was below the knee, with 3/4 sleeves and shoulder pads, black, covered almost entirely in sequins - its actually a leaf print done in sequins - with a sequined sash as a belt. Basically, I died when I saw it. So, in the spirit of what I think to be a very successful costume, I decided to actually post a picture of myself, which I generally swear I will never do. But what the heck, I'm proud of this one.
(PS Sorry for the awkward mirror phone self portraits. Its a huge pet peeve of mine when people do that, but I was desperate for a shot and had no other choice... so.... SORRY.)
If you want a tutorial on how to do the hair, check this video out. I followed it exactly as she says, and it turned out right.
