Nagi Noda was a Japanese artist/designer/director who brought a very fresh, whimsical air to contemporary art, design and film. Her style was very much inspired by Japanese popular culture, with the almost famous image of ‘cuteness’ though most of the time with a very unusual twist. She directed an exercise video with poodles (it is very funny/strange – the link is posted at the bottom), commercials, promotional videos and many more works in the film industry. She created some incredible animal hair hats (featured below), book cover designs, stuffed animals, and funny characters, all very surreal and quite unusual. Her work was, and still is, very much admired and appreciated by designers and filmmakers alike, and her sudden death has been quite a loss to these artistic communities. She was 35 at the time of her death last year.
