Today for my History of Haute Couture class, we watched the 1966 film "Qui êtes-vous, Polly Maggoo" by photographer and filmmaker William Klein. I have been curious about this film for quite some time, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that we would be watching it in class. I found this film to be intriguing, surprising, and very craftily strange. It is a satirical comedy about the obsessions of the fashion world, with Polly Maggoo, international supermodel, as the main victim. I found the ultimate message of the film to be quite fitting to my current state of mind and I felt an interesting connection with what was being said.
I highly recommend this movie – it is unusual, but it is entertaining and worth your time.
